For every one else keep reading.

This sonnet was written for Derek Landy a god amongst men. Shakespeare had nothing on you. You are the centre of the universe and I am honoured to have written this.

Golden God

My Golden God shines brighter than the sun
Nature pales when it’s compared to him
The wonder of the snow is dull and dun
When Landy sighs the world is bleak and grim.
I have seen galaxies stand still and stare
When Golden God approaches from on high
He has such talent, humour, wit and flair
That lesser mortal writers can but cry.
I love to hear him speak for well I know
That genius resounds in every word
He is the light; from him all dreams do grow
To never her his name is just unheard.
When Landy laughs his smile can light up skies
And when he weeps then all creation cries.

The Lone Wolf

As I'm sure you're aware Vampires are not cute and cuddly and don't make very good friends. Please beware Nicolette.

The Lone Wolf

The Lone Wolf runs alone
She runs to meet her friends
The not quite human ones
Who drink the blood yet leave the flesh

She runs through the ice
And the cold and the dark and the rage
Through the never ending loneliness
And the darkness in her soul

Her friends are everywhere
She meets with them often
As she lopes along
Ignoring the warnings from the wise ones
Who know of the danger she faces

She remembers little about them
Only faint whispers in her minds
And dainty tooth marks and matted fur

By day they appear like the men folk
But she knows when the sun sets
Her friends become monsters
Suave to savage
Yet still she meets them
Longing for companionship
From those with no hearts

Her friends are intoxicating
The faint metallic taste of warm warm blood
That throbs through her veins and pounding heart
They murmur her name
Which softly echoes through the air
“Nicolette”

The name that reverberates across the ocean
That resounds through the mountain peaks
And resonates across the globe
Drawing her in
Gently, softly
Until the monster within strikes
By then it is too late.

The Unfortunate Mishap of Dragona Pine Who Fell Into A Cavernous Pit On Account Of His Wicked Behaviour

This poem is for Dragona. I promised not to kill you off in this one. Well I keep to my word.

The Unfortunate Mishap of Dragona Pine Who Fell Into A Cavernous Pit On Account Of His Wicked Behaviour

The tale that I’m about to tell
Of poor Dragona Pine
Who boasted about his greatness
But actually failed to shine.

A tall young lad of six foot four
Or so he used to claim
Who terrorised other children
But never caught the blame

Although quite thin he was quite strong
With a rather violent mind
He threw the children with one arm
A habit that he refined

He threw the poor boys through the air
Till they met with the floor with their face
And Dragona just felt quite amused
The boy is a total disgrace

But soon he would learn just how wicked it was
To be violent, he’d later admit
For we come to the crux of the story
The part with the cavernous pit

One day young Dragona was walking
When a poor little child passed by
And Dragona just thought what fun it would be
To see the poor little child fly

So he hoisted him up singlehandedly
And sent him right up into space
When a teacher just happened to notice
As the child burnt up on re-entry
With a tortured grimace on his face

The teacher was furious and angry
And exploded because of the fright
The explosion created a chasm
And Dragona fell into the chasm
As anyone near the pit might

He landed there THUD at the bottom
The pit was cavernous and cold
And the frost on the walls seemed to sparkle in glee
If only you’d do what you’re told.

For Dragona escaped from the cavernous pit
By building himself a large rope
That he made from his hair and his heartstrings
And he left the pit unable to cope.

And he spent all the rest of his days
Feeling subdued and sickly and sad
And he wished that he’d been a bit better
And learnt throwing children is bad

So I come to the moral of the story
If you have to throws kids though the air
And a teacher just happens to notice
And they start to swell up, just beware!

Kallista's Feast

Welcome to my blog which apparently does exist. For those of you who follow Derek Landy Blogs Under Duress (an amazing blog) I am posting my poems about you.

The first one is called Kallista's Feast. Kallista, you were the one who started this all and I'm honoured you like it so much.

Kallista’s Feast

A goddess amongst human kind
With skin as pale as snow
Whose eyes of ice stared harshly down
At all that lay below

Her aura was of lavender
Its shine lit up the night
Kallista hair of silken gold
Outraced the birds in flight

Yet Kallista, The Silver Queen
She ate the fruit of Goblin Men
And sickened lay there gasping
In a frosty forest glen

She dined on sticky golden blood
On scarlet roses crushed in mud
She drank the tears of a million slaves
And powdered bones from hallowed graves

Yet none of these would cure the pain
The Goblin Men had wrought
And slowly Kallista did pale
And sat there lost in thought

Until at last she built a pyre
Set herself alight
And as the smoke and flame rose higher
Her silent screams did feed the fire

Suddenly the flames did die
The dust and ash obscured the sky
Kallista joined the Doves of War
And wandered night’s plutonian shore
